Severe Weather Research Stations

We are researching interesting facts and how to stay safe during a tornado, thunderstorm, flood, blizzard, etc. We are using dictionaries, encyclopedias, EPIC, kiddle search engine, books, articles, etc. 
and we are loving it!

A Bad Case of Stripes

We enjoyed reading this hilarious book about a girl who wouldn't eat Lima beans because she was afraid she wouldn't fit in. We then discussed character traits and completed a story map.

Preparing for ELA MAPS

How can we help ourselves?  We can reread, cover and read a piece at a time, check again, think, cross out wrong answers, and when ALL else fails we make our BEST guess!

Research

We are learning how to conduct research and we are loving it!!  We are using a RAN chart to monitor our learning. We write what we think we know on a sticky and then read to confirm it, prove it wrong or add new learning. We are combining this with our weather unit in science too!
